If you are considering going wreck diving, you probably already have some diving experience. Wreck diving requires some experience as it needs more specialist equipment, many more checks and more diving skill. If you live in the UK, you are limited to quarry dives, but this will give you the skills you need to go wreck diving on your holiday. Although Truk lagoon diving requires more skill as a diver, learning the extra skills is worth it as it will vastly expand the amount of places you can go diving. The Truk Lagoon in the South Pacific, near Micronesia, is one of the best places in the world to go wreck diving. This is due to the many Japanese shipwrecks in the area from World War II. The wrecks have been there long enough for coral reefs, marine life and other sea creatures to make them their home. Around the wreck sites are many of the ships’ possessions, from the crew’s personal possessions to the ship’s cargo. The area also has some of the most beautiful scenery you can see. Even if you only go diving a few times, there is plenty to see and do that will give you a lifetime of memories.
